Context
This project was designed and executed for the final assignment of the Adobe Illustrator course.
The prompt was The State of the Art of Illustration, and we have free rein over our interpretation of the prompt - so long as we design an A3 poster intended for both digital and print.
Brainstorming, or Soul Searching
When I was drawing up the mind map in class, I was branching out fancy words and concepts from the prompt The State of the Art of Illustration — like a true social science junkie. AI versus artist, commodification of art and design, you name it, I have it. However, all of these — while interesting on their own — they did not speak to me, or rather I found it difficult to relate to ideas that are featured so much in news soundbites that no longer felt personal and authentic to me. That was when I started introspecting about my own creative journey.
Seize the Spark ヒカリヲツカモウ
This introspective exercise helped me draw parallels between the abstract prompt of The State of the Art of Illustration and my own personal journey. The courage to embrace own’s innate creativity sparks will always be the light that guides designers through whatever intrinsic negativity and extrinsic uncertainty ahead — and that I feel is a pertinent message for all designers especially in these extraordinary times.
